The bridge across to Phillip Island,
quite like a miniature version of Hobart's Tasman
Bridge, is a two lane affair from San Remo to Newhaven.
On very busy days, for example when the Motor Racing is
held at Phillip Island Motor Racing Circuit, the two
lanes are divided further to provide three lanes, ie;
two lanes returning to Melbourne. This local quirk is
called the "Blue Line", shown below. Signs indicate when
this extraordinary feat of ingenuity and daring is in
operation. The Blue Line effect extends for many
kilometres, in fact to Tooradin, where finally peace of
mind is restored as double lane divided roadway resumes.
